Plant Engineer

As a Plant Engineer at the American National Red Cross, you will oversee building systems and infrastructure that support lifesaving humanitarian operations. In the Facilities, Maintenance & Asset Management department, you will manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and critical building equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, supervise vendors and contractors, and support disaster readiness.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will help maintain a compliant, resilient facility that enables disaster response, blood services, and community programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
• Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical assets.
• Coordinate and supervise vendors and contractors performing facility work.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and building code requirements.
• Support facility readiness for disaster response and blood services operations.
• Monitor building automation systems and optimize energy efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve building system failures and service interruptions.
• Plan and support facility upgrades, repairs, and minor capital projects.
• Maintain accurate asset records and maintenance documentation in CMMS.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align facility performance with mission needs.
