Maintenance Facilities Engineer

The Maintenance Facilities Engineer at the American National Red Cross supports safe, reliable facilities that enable critical humanitarian services. Reporting to the Facilities, Maintenance & Asset Management department, this role oversees preventive maintenance, repairs, and minor projects for building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety equipment. The engineer coordinates vendors, ensures regulatory and safety compliance, manages work orders, and supports space, asset, and equipment planning.

This position partners closely with staff and volunteers to minimize downtime, optimize facility performance, and uphold the Red Cross mission of compassionate service.

Responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
• Respond to and resolve facilities work orders to minimize downtime for critical Red Cross operations.
• Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors for repairs, inspections, and minor facility projects.
• Monitor building systems performance and recommend improvements for efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and building codes, including documentation and reporting.
• Maintain accurate asset, maintenance, and inspection records in a CMMS or similar system.
• Support space planning, facility moves, and equipment installations as needed.
• Participate in emergency response and after-hours on-call rotation for facility-related issues.
