As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer at the American National Red Cross, you will ensure safe, reliable operation of building systems that support lifesaving services and disaster response. Working within the Facilities, Maintenance & Asset Management department, you will inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems across Red Cross sites, coordinate vendors, support preventive maintenance plans, and respond to facilities emergencies.

You'll collaborate with staff and volunteers to prioritize work orders, uphold regulatory and safety standards, and optimize assets so mission critical programs can operate without disruption.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems across assigned Red Cross facilities.
  • Execute and document preventive maintenance using a CMMS to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Respond to facilities emergencies to restore safe operations supporting disaster response and blood services.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and cost control.
  • Monitor and support life safety systems, collaborating on required inspections and code compliance.
  • Assist with minor renovations, space reconfigurations, and equipment installations as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, building codes, and Red Cross safety policies in all work.
  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives through system optimization and upgrades.
  • Partner with staff and volunteers to prioritize work orders and communicate status updates clearly.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventories, and reports for audits and planning.
