Petit Jean Electric is seeking to fill the position of General Laborer. The General Laborer performs a variety of tasks under the supervision. These tasks may include assisting with the extra workload, covering absences and vacations, and supplementing crews to meet unusual changes in the production area or in the weather.

Primary Duties:

Cleans and performs general maintenance on equipment, maintains an area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.

Closely follow directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items.

Perform any unskilled job at the facility.

May be trained to act as a forklift operator.

Reports any issues to the supervisor.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

General Duties:

Establishes and maintains an effective professional working relationship with co-workers and all necessary levels of management.

Always maintains a professional image and standards of professional conduct while working in the public, representing the Cooperative, and/or conducting business on behalf of the Cooperative.

Makes his/herself available to answer phone calls and provide general assistance during power outages.

Maintains a safe working environment.

Protects and maintains member confidence by safeguarding member and employee information.

Provides service to members and fellow employees by answering questions, offering assistance, and performing other duties as assigned.

Class A CDL preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Job training for this position is provided by the cooperative.

ABILITIES AND

SKILLS:

Self-motivated. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions. Ability to work in a variety of roles.

ENVIRONMENT:

Work indoors and outdoors, frequently around low voltage electricity. Work outdoors during severe weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Performing physical custodial tasks, occasionally with great physical exertion requiring frequent standing walking, sitting, lifting & carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally lifting equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds), twisting, pushing & pulling, climbing & balancing, kneeling & crawling, bending, gripping & grasping, visually inspecting, verbally communicating.
