Single-Phase Motor & Pump Technician - Repairs & Customer Service

Description

The Single-Phase Mechanic is responsible for evaluating and performing minor repairs on single-phase motors, repairing pool and centrifugal pumps, and assisting customers at the front counter. This position combines hands-on mechanical work with customer service and requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to assist throughout the shop.

• Evaluate single-phase electric motors and perform minor repairs as appropriate.
• Diagnose and repair pool pumps and single-phase centrifugal pumps.
• Use basic electrical testing equipment, including a multimeter, to evaluate motors and components.
• Accurately complete work orders and document repair findings and work performed.
• Receive incoming customer repairs and accurately document equipment and customer information.
• Assist customers with front counter sales, repair drop-offs, and pickups.
• Assist with loading and unloading motors, pumps, repairs, and other equipment as needed.
• Identify parts needed to complete repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist coworkers and other areas of the shop as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and work instructions.

Requirements

• Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
• Previous mechanical, motor, pump, maintenance, automotive, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
• Basic ability to read and use a multimeter.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document repairs and customer information.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read and follow written, verbal, diagram, and technical instructions.
• Ability to communicate professionally and provide helpful customer service.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Regular schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as required.
• Ability and willingness to work in a shop environment that may be hot, cold, and/or poorly ventilated.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and handle tools, equipment, and components.
• Ability to regularly lift and move items weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Adequate vision and depth perception to safely perform job responsibilities.
