Custodian – Oregon Health Authority, Environmental Services Department, Junction City
OverviewThe Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is hiring a Custodian to maintain a clean, healthy, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff at Oregon State Hospital (OSH). The role includes cleaning, disinfecting, and operating custodial equipment, with a 10% pay differential above the base rate.
Responsibilities- Clean and disinfect substances, spills, and accidents.
- Pickup and deliver biohazard waste and sharps to designated secure storage.
- Disinfect patient wards during infectious disease outbreaks.
- Sweep, dust, mop, and buff hard surfaces.
- Vacuum, spot clean carpets, remove trash.
- Scrub, rinse, and refinish floors; clean, shampoo, and extract carpets and upholstered furniture.
- Maintain custodial equipment.
- Prep floors and walls for remodel or renovation projects.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum 6 months of custodial experience that included operating required equipment.
- Ability to move heavy equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, crouch, stoop, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods (90% of shift).
- Effective custodial organization skills.
- Use of technology and training to enhance performance.
- Recognition of individual and cultural differences and creation of an inclusive environment.
- Experience with commercial custodial equipment (carpet extractor, scrubbers, buffers, no-touch cleaning systems, commercial vacuums).
- Proper use and dilution of cleaning chemical solutions.
- Strong time management and prioritization of daily duties.
Must have a criminal records check that meets OHA criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
