As our Underground Mobile Maintenance Planner, you are responsible for preparing, compiling, and maintaining records, documents, reports, and statistics pertaining to mobile mining equipment in an underground hard rock mining operation to keep our production going and our profitability up.

Every day you will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You’ll start every day organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work activities to promote a safe, healthy, and accident‑free work environment. You will manage routine data and withdrawal associated with the maintenance group in a computerized maintenance management system. Those who thrive in this role are self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined problem solvers.

We’re on a remote island; you must know how to work independently, as part of a team, and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

About the Company

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing over 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

What to Expect
  • Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. Department‑level training is also provided on how to do tasks safely.
  • Use mechanical maintenance knowledge and planning skills to procure warehouse stock, manage assets, and assist with supply chain issues at site.
  • Implement process‑based maintenance programs, coordinating with operations, engineering, and outside services.
  • Generate work orders, maintain in‑service details on equipment, and record modifications.
  • Track and schedule preventative maintenance to sustain safety and environmental certifications.
  • Inspect each piece of equipment and work area before starting work; promote and observe safety procedures.
  • Work as part of a reliable team.
Position Summary

As a member of the Greens Creek Maintenance Planning team this position prepares, compiles, and maintains records, documents, reports, and statistics pertaining to mobile equipment for the Centralized Maintenance Group.

Safety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities
  • Comply with safety requirements; prevent incidents, injuries, or losses.
  • Ensure safety and health of self and others by taking due care while performing work.
  • Identify, eliminate, and report hazards promptly.
  • Report incidents and accidents promptly.
  • Cooperate in incident investigations.
  • Assist in resolving health and safety matters.
  • Use and maintain PPE.
  • Suggest improvements to work processes.
  • Support management in reaching safety targets.
  • Ensure plants and equipment operate within safe limits.
  • Use correct equipment for each job.
  • Participate in risk assessment and safety initiatives.
  • Receive required training and instruction.
Essential Functions
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined problem solver.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Attention to detail; recognize discrepancies.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and organization/time‑management skills.
  • Responsible for routine data entry and withdrawal in the CMMS.
  • Maintain equipment statistics (meter hours, job cards, requisitions).
  • Ensure high‑quality data and data integrity.
  • Identify and solve problems with team.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and assist with preventive maintenance optimization.
  • General administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, and recording meeting minutes.
  • Plan and schedule jobs for mobile equipment.
  • Use the CMMS to create and maintain equipment history.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with Ellipse or similar CMMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Procurement
  • Maintain warehouse stock with warehouse personnel and handle maintenance procurement.
  • Cost control and reporting.
  • Assist in creating vendor contracts.
  • Procure and schedule vendor support.
  • Maintain critical spares, consignments, and parts listings.
Asset Management
  • Manage APL and warehouse stock; identify equipment without APL.
  • Record and update equipment APL; adjust warehouse stock accordingly.
