As our Underground Mobile Maintenance Planner, you are responsible for preparing, compiling, and maintaining records, documents, reports, and statistics pertaining to mobile mining equipment in an underground hard rock mining operation to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every day organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work activities to promote a safe, healthy, and accident‑free work environment.

You will be called upon to manage all routine data and withdrawal associated with the maintenance group in a computerized maintenance management system. Those who thrive in this role are self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined problem solvers. We are on a remote island; you must know how to work independently, as part of a team, and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing over 500 people. what you can expect in this role
  • Training first:
    Every hire receives MSHA training in the first four days on the job, along with department‑level training on safety and procedures.
  • Utilize your mechanical maintenance and planning skills to procure warehouse stock, manage assets, and assist with supply chain issues at site.
  • Implement process‑based maintenance programs and coordinate with operations, engineering, and outside services to refine the overall maintenance program.
  • Generate work orders, maintain in‑service details on equipment, and record modifications to equipment.
  • Track and schedule preventative maintenance to maintain all safety and environmental certifications.
  • Promote and personally observe safety procedures, ensuring each piece of equipment and work area is inspected before work starts.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a reliable team.
Position Summary

As a member of the Greens Creek Maintenance Planning team, this position prepares, compiles, and maintains records, documents, reports, and statistics for mobile equipment for the Centralized Maintenance Group by performing the essential functions described below.

Safety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety requirements and prevent incidents, injuries, or losses.
  • Take responsibility for your actions and ensure the safety and health of yourself and others.
  • Identify, eliminate, and report hazards promptly.
  • Report incidents and accidents promptly and cooperate in investigations.
  • Use and maintain PPE and suggest process improvements.
  • Support management in achieving safety targets and maintaining safe operating limits for plant and equipment.
  • Participate in risk assessment, safety initiatives, and training as required.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
Essential Functions
  • Be self‑motivated, proactive, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined, and a problem solver.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Pay close attention to detail and recognize discrepancies.
  • Work independently and as part of a team with strong interpersonal and time‑management skills.
  • Enter and manage routine data in the Computerized Maintenance Management Information System.
  • Maintain equipment statistics, ensuring high‑quality data and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve problems.
  • Collect oil samples and prepare maintenance reports, supporting preventive maintenance optimization.
  • Handle general administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, and recording meeting minutes.
  • Plan and schedule jobs for mobile equipment and use the CMMS to create and maintain equipment history.
  • Assist with procurement, cost control, and vendor contract creation.
