Job DescriptionThis position requires that you accept responsibility for the delivery of housekeeping services to each resident in your assigned Resident Group. You will monitor the activities and behavior for all residents to ensure the care and housekeeping services are appropriate and delivered continuously and efficiently.
Assume cleaning responsibilities for all residences and common areas on a scheduled basis. Keep all areas of the community clean, neat, attractive, and safe for residents, guests, and team members at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Clean all resident apartments as scheduled by supervisor: empty wastebaskets, clean all bathrooms, swab toilet bowl, wipe sink, bathtub, countertops, mirror; mop floor; change sheets; replace towels; clean kitchen sink, counter, floor; dust flat surfaces; vacuum exposed areas; wash windows as needed.
- Pick up laundry weekly from resident units as scheduled.
- Clean all common areas to specifications, including elevators, halls, landing, stairs, resident activity areas, lobbies, model units and other flat surfaces as scheduled or requested by management.
- Check and touch up vacant units weekly according to assigned schedule.
- Maintain housekeeping cart in a clean and orderly manner.
- Advise supervisor when supplies diminish for reorder.
- Follow safe guidelines for the use of chemicals and be familiar with emergency procedures for chemical misuse.
- Assist in laundry room as needed.
- Present a professional demeanor that communicates the corporate philosophy of service, goodwill and genuine interest in each resident’s unique needs.
- Conduct yourself and your business at all times so as not to detract from or reflect adversely on the reputation of the property.
- Handle all resident concerns and complaints with finesse and in a caring, polite and professional manner.
- Communicate and channel information to supervisor about matters that could benefit the employer.
- Devote full and exclusive time and attention to duties while on duty.
- Promote understanding among all employees of the importance of the housekeeping department.
- Perform such other tasks as may be required from time to time by management.
- Continuous and consistent demonstrated interest in and knowledge about the elderly and their needs; ability to meet those needs consistently.
- Interest in and willingness to learn and demonstrate initiative in developing skills in caring for the elderly in line with the philosophy and policies of the community.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 10 lbs: frequently required when lifting cleaning supplies.
- Lift 11–25 lbs: occasionally required when lifting mop bucket or cleaning solutions up to 25 lbs.
- Lift 26–50 lbs: occasionally required when flipping mattresses up to 50 lbs.
- Lift over 50 lbs: rarely occurs when moving resident furniture with assistance.
- Carry 10 lbs: frequently when carrying small buckets of supplies; may be carried for 10–20 feet.
- Carry 11–25 lbs: occasionally when carrying bucket with water and cleaning solution up to 25 lbs.
- Carry 26–50 lbs: not required.
- Carry over 50 lbs: not required.
- Reach above shoulder height: frequently when dusting and removing dust around windows.
- Reach at shoulder height: frequently required while cleaning and dusting.
- Reach below shoulder height: frequently when cleaning under beds.
- Push/pull cleaning cart: frequently required; moves easily over carpeting or tile.
