Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Recruitment Number 26-0045 Job Responsibilities
Independently performs skilled mechanical repair work in the adjustment, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment such as water pumps, mechanical laundry equipment, and continuing work assignments in accordance with diagrams.
Other duties include the inspection, repair, and conducting preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in tunnels and on tunnel approaches, as well as conducting and reporting on structural inspections of tunnels, viaducts, and reading operating manuals while following the manufacturer's specifications and basic trade practices.
Shift WorkApplicants must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work:
State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. - Experience and Training: THREE (3) YEARS of work experience in performing mechanical repair and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. - Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance – Federal Criminal History Records Check:
Prospective employees must not have been convicted or found "not guilty by reason of insanity" of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years. Upon recommendation for hire, successful fingerprint-based criminal history check is required. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program: A federal program that encourages individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
