Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and a detail‑oriented approach to clean and maintain a commercial location. While previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Applicants must successfully complete a background check, and certain roles require a valid Hawaii driver’s license and a dependable vehicle. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning common areas, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. - Capable of working in diverse areas and conditions.
- Ensure cleanliness of shared areas within the commercial space, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in assigned duties, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning spills, restrooms, offices, sidewalks, pathways, window sills, railings, stairways, parking lots, removing bird droppings, cleaning and wiping down surfaces, and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles, wastebaskets, and recyclables, disposing of them in designated areas.
- Restock cleaning supplies as needed.
- Notify the appropriate HBM employee regarding needed supplies and equipment for cleaning duties.
- Report safety issues or building problems (e.g., burnt light bulbs).
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or property manager.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must pass a background check.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred, but willing to train enthusiastic candidates.
- Strong public relations and communication skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Capable of performing basic manual labor, including: cleaning common areas, frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying a minimum of 30 lbs (up to 50 lbs), reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, walking, and standing throughout shifts.
- Experience operating various cleaning machinery (e.g., leaf blower, power washer, floor scrubber) is preferred but not necessary.
- Sunday, Monday, Wednesday: 12 PM to 8:30 PM.
- Thursday and Saturday: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (5 days, 40 hours per week).
- Days off:
Tuesday and Friday.
- $16.00 per hour.
