Maintenance Technician

2ND Shift Maintenance Technician – Kalamazoo, MI

Inspects equipment and systems for any issues as well as scheduling repairs for faulty equipment. Performs general maintenance of facility and grounds.

• Maintains and performs daily preventive maintenance on material handling equipment.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts using hands and/or power tools.
• Maintains battery room and chargers to include charging and changing batteries for material handling equipment.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and locates causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, hands, and/or power tools.
• Maintains equipment rooms in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Follows through and completes all work orders.
• Maintains appropriate levels of material handling equipment maintenance supplies.
• Designs, implements, and reviews daily operator’s checklist procedures.
• Logs/updates asset software for all maintenance and repair so it can be tracked.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, including OSHA.
• Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
• Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Working knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of maintenance.
• Ability to follow directions, standard procedures and respond to instructions.
• Ability to solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures.
• Must have ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
