Summary:
The Junior Maintenance Technician assists the maintenance team in performing routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities and fleet vehicles owned and operated by Flathead Industries. This position supports assigned maintenance projects and works collaboratively with team members to ensure facilities, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a safe, functional, and professional condition. The role operates in a team-oriented environment and contributes to the overall appearance, safety, and operation of organizational assets.

Starting at $22/hr

Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teamwork and Communication
  • Develop and maintain professional, effective, and positive working relationships with team members, staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively through email, text, and work order tracking software.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, sound judgment, and positive decision-making skills.
  • Maintain flexibility to work varying schedules and hours as needed to support operational needs.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and complete assigned projects.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new skills and accept coaching and feedback. Technical Skills and Maintenance Support
  • Learn to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair various building systems and equipment under the direction of senior maintenance staff.
  • Assist with plumbing maintenance and repair, including sinks, faucets, and toilets.
  • Assist with electrical maintenance tasks, including light switches, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
  • Assist with HVAC preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic diagnostics.
  • Assist with building maintenance and construction repairs, including:
  • Drywall repair and installation
  • Door and lock repair or replacement
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • Screen repair
  • Learn and apply preventative maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Assist in ensuring facilities are maintained according to applicable building specifications and safety codes.
  • Safely operate lawn mowers and other related power equipment.
  • Properly and safely use hand and power tools.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment. Property and Grounds Maintenance
  • Perform routine year-round grounds maintenance, including mowing, raking, landscaping, and general upkeep.
  • Participate in snow removal activities to ensure safe access to and from Flathead Industries properties.
  • Participate in the department's on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

1. Ability to successfully pass criminal and other applicable background checks.

2. Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

3. High school diploma or equivalent required. Occupationally specific training, trade coursework, or maintenance-related certifications preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

4. Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective, and positive working relationships while communicating professionally and effectively with supervisors, co-workers, clients, customers, vendors, and other community stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, including completion of basic documentation and work orders.

5. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn and utilize required software, tracking systems, email, and other workplace technology.

6. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, sound judgment, problem-solving, and positive decision-making skills.

7. Basic knowledge of facility systems, maintenance practices, hand tools, and power tools preferred.

8. Ability to safely and frequently lift, move, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.

9. Possession of a current and valid Montana driver's license.

10. Ability to meet and maintain requirements for coverage under Flathead Industries' vehicle insurance policy.

11. Ability and willingness to learn maintenance procedures, safety practices, and technical skills necessary to perform assigned duties.
