Part Time Operating Engineer
Evergreen School District seeks an Part Time Operating Engineer to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen's mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. The Operating Engineer is responsible for thoroughly cleaning the facilities. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Director.
Preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Current knowledge of methods and materials to perform custodial work
- Working knowledge of heating, plumbing, lighting and ventilating equipment
- Manual dexterity and certification of good physical health
Job Responsibilities:
- Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, vacuums, dusts and polishes fixtures, floors and rooms
- Moves furniture and equipment
- Scrubs and disinfects restrooms and drinking fountains;
Empties and cleans waste and trash receptacles - Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times
- Assumes responsibility for general security of the building, and reports any vandalism or theft to supervisor
- Completes touch-up painting, minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general mechanical areas
- Washes windows, chalkboards
- Replaces and installs light bulbs
- Completes snow maintenance/removal, grass cutting, and other maintenance tasks
- Assists staff members as requested
- Works in cafeteria as assigned
- Directs temporary employees on occasion
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow directives and successfully fulfill assignments
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial work
- Ability to observe and report maintenance repairs
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects
- Ability to report needed building repairs
- Ability to requisition custodial supply
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities with minimal direction
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined areas, lift heavy materials, and operate machinery
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with faculty and students and deal effectively with young people
Physical Demands:
- Works inside and outside the school building in both a controlled environment as well as occasionally in inclement weather
- Works with corrosive, toxic chemicals and soaps that give off fumes
- Works with hand and electrical tools
- Required to be "on feet" the majority of the day
Evaluation:
Performance to be evaluated annually by the Maintenance Director
Terms of Employment:
Hourly, 262 day contract year, Remuneration contingent upon preparation and experience Health insurance, leave, and retirement provided Work schedule/hours vary by placement and assignment can be modified as determined by supervisor
