Operations And Facilities Director

Evergreen School District seeks an Operations and Facilities Director to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen's mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. The Operations Director supports the District with a variety of duties. This position reports directly to the Superintendent.

Preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with preference given for background in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • Five years experience in supervision and maintenance
  • Possess or acquire Commercial Drivers License (CDL) - Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement
  • Possess First Aid and CPR certification
  • Possess or acquire Government Pesticide Applicator License (school Integrated Pest Management)
  • Possess or acquire Low-Pressure Boiler Operator's License (within three years of employment)
  • Possess or acquire training in asbestos awareness and maintenance
  • Possess or acquire certification in lead based paint renovation
  • Experience in grounds maintenance
  • Reside within reasonable proximity to the district

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and administer maintenance programs
  • Develop and oversee safety programs
  • Monitor facilities to ensure compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Ensure utilities procurement
  • Monitor bus maintenance and oversee bus operations
  • Write bid specifications and assist in the selection of contractors
  • Write contracts for building projects and oversee contractor operations
  • Oversee telecommunications and security camera systems
  • Establish and implement a budget
  • Create work schedules
  • Coordinate operations and repairs
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance and custodial personnel
  • Oversee security
  • Prioritize, perform, and/or assign district maintenance and repairs
  • Oversee operation of the District boilers
  • Secure and disseminate maintenance and custodial supplies
  • Conduct maintenance and custodial staff meetings
  • Dispose of obsolete property as per statutory requirements
  • Attend meetings as they pertain to custodial and maintenance staff or district operations
  • Provide regular report to Trustees
  • Communicate regularly with the District superintendent
  • Procure and maintain inventory of district-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers
  • Assist in the planning and construction of school facilities
  • Conduct duties in a safe manner and emphasize safety to subordinates
  • Schedule and conduct asbestos inspections
  • Ensure and document proper procedures for repair and renovation activities when asbestos or lead based paint is present
  • Respond to security alarms and other emergencies as needed outside of work hours in a timely manner
  • Establish safety, preventative, and upgrade facilities and maintenance plan
  • Be responsible for snow removal and snow removal contracting

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial, building, maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Ability to operate snow removal equipment
  • Ability to organize and manage supplies and materials
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate information, direct meetings and organize and maintain equipment
  • Ability to supervise construction projects and work with contractors
  • Ability to be self-directed in handling responsibilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and analyze and solve problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to handle emergencies in a calm and efficient manner
  • Ability to give oral presentations in public settings

Physical Demands:

  • Works inside and outside the school building in both a controlled environment as well as occasionally in inclement weather
  • Works with corrosive, toxic chemicals and soaps that give off fumes

Evaluation:

Performance to be evaluated annually by the Superintendent

Terms of Employment:

Hourly, 261 day contract year, Remuneration contingent upon preparation and experience Health insurance, leave, and retirement provided On call 24 hours 7 days a week Work schedule/hours can be modified as determined by supervisor
