Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Summary
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
- Perform annual/systematic 90‑day inspection to ensure equipment meets federal FHWA standards.
- Conduct HM inspections.
- Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards, including proper handling or disposal of hazardous wastes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Experience with inspection and test equipment used for cargo tank inspections.
- Must have own tools.
Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
Physical DemandsUse arms to reach and stretch; hands and fingers to grasp, move, or assemble objects of a variety of sizes, and to manipulate tools, devices, and controls. Use legs to stand for long periods, maneuver through the shop environment, and perform locomotive functions such as crawling, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and carrying or relocating objects up to 75lbs. Perform broad and fine locomotive motions, including bending, twisting, and balancing, for extended periods.
Visually focus on objects at close and distant ranges, and discern their distances, depths, and colors in varying lighting. Use auditory senses to hear and isolate sounds, understand speech, and recognize differences in varying sound levels. Operate in a constant state of alertness and safety.
This position works in confined spaces.

Salary Range: $25.27 to $47.00 hourly. This range is based on market data and internal equity; the final offer will be determined by factors including the candidate's experience, education, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
