Maintenance Technician

Homestead of Hiawatha is looking for a new maintenance technician for a part‑time position responsible for repairs of the physical structure, equipment, and grounds of our community.

• Maintain community grounds in an orderly fashion; free from hazards, debris, and clutter. Sidewalks and drives must be free from snow, ice, leaves, and in good repair.
• Maintain the building including painting, replacing worn or stained tiles, repairing furniture, locks, baseboards, trim, windows, etc.
• Ensure the electrical system and all electrical appliances are in good working condition.
• Ensure plumbing is in working order and in good repair.
• Maintain all equipment including washers, dryers, boilers, air conditioners, furnaces, and lawn mowers.
• Ensure staff comply with State and Federal regulations, including hazardous materials, fire safety, building, electric, and plumbing codes.
• Maintain accurate accounting for all assigned budgets and inform the property manager prior to spending monies in excess of the budget.
• Ensure 24‑hour availability of service for maintenance emergencies.
