Job Summary
Responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital, living center, home care, basement of the clinic and other designated areas of the clinic according to established standards.
Essential FunctionsThe housekeeper performs designated cleaning in patient care and resident areas, operating rooms, minor procedure rooms, emergency rooms, offices, dining rooms, and other assigned areas.
Duties include:
- Disinfecting items in patient and resident rooms (telephone, bedside tray, over bed tray, windows, chairs, etc.).
- Cleaning and disinfecting bed components, bathrooms, sinks, vents, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, and furniture.
- Maintaining cleanliness of operating rooms, minor procedure rooms, emergency rooms, and cleaning equipment such as tables, lights, IV poles, and shelves.
- Dusting, washing, and cleaning office items, desks, blackboards, counter tops, mirrors, light fixtures, vents, and other surfaces.
- Mopping, vacuuming carpet, stripping and waxing floors, and filling dispensers as needed.
- Collecting and disposing of garbage.
- Reporting needed supplies and equipment maintenance to the housekeeping supervisor.
May operate vacuum cleaners, wet‑dry vacuums, ladders, buffers, scrubbers, and carpet steam cleaners. May need to lift up to 50 lbs. Physical demands include stooping, bending, standing, walking, climbing ladders, pushing and pulling carts, and lifting buckets of water.

Follows established cleaning procedures, determines cleaning order based on traffic and area use, and refers unusual or complex problems to the supervisor.
Minimum QualificationsMust be able to learn and follow cleaning and safety procedures, aseptic techniques, special cleaning procedures for designated areas, and the operation of cleaning equipment.

Monday – Friday with some weekends per rotation, 40 hours per week.
