The Maintenance Technician, under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, is responsible for the maintenance and repair of hospital buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position also handles preventative maintenance and repairs for a wide range of hospital equipment and utility systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light construction, painting, and ground‑keeping. The role must integrate company values into daily practice.
Essential Functions- Performs routine facility maintenance, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Performs regularly scheduled safety checks, inspections, and walk‑throughs.
- Performs groundskeeping duties.
- Responds to and completes work order projects, recording completion and any changes in work performed.
- Identifies and communicates potential issues related to services and equipment to the Director of Facilities in a timely manner.
- In coordination with the Director of Facilities, follows building preventative maintenance programs and procedures.
- Participates in the development of departmental safety procedures.
- Maintains records for facility compliance with all regulatory agencies (local, state, federal) relating to facility maintenance systems.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff, assessing risks and implementing appropriate precautions.
- Maintains regular attendance according to the assigned work schedule.
- Completes required trainings as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent OR 2 years direct experience required.
- Previous experience in preventative maintenance, equipment and systems repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Licensure in a field of specialty, such as electrical, plumbing or HVAC, preferred.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record, current driver’s license, and insurability.
- Knowledge of safety codes and regulations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
- Effective organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Significant walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling for both momentary and prolonged periods.
- Both gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
- Clear vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Routine exposure to heat, cold, loud noise, restricted space, and moving parts.
