Location: McConnell AFB
Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) involved in the removing, installing, troubleshooting, interrogating, overhauling, adjusting, testing, modifying, calibrating, and repairing of complex integrated aircraft pneudraulic systems and equipment on board conventional/nuclear certified aircraft supported by the organization and to provide training to and evaluation of all assigned personnel, e.g., Active Duty, Reservist, Civilians, Contractors and foreign military as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein.
DUTIES: DUTY 1:
Conducts scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and periodic inspections on all pneudraulically operated systems on/off aircraft in accordance with established procedures. Performs visual inspections during calendar/hourly inspections (phase/isochronal, Home Station Checks, Hourly Post Flight, etc.), by inspecting such items as reservoir fluid level, brake pucks/carbon disks for clearance/serviceability, visual conditions of lines, shock struts for fluid and height of piston level, accumulators for air/nitrogen pressure, removing filters and cleaning or replacing.
DUTY 2:
Performs troubleshooting of complex integrated pneudraulic systems of related on/off equipment for assigned and/or transient aircraft to include support equipment. Utilizes portable and bench test equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Disassembles, assembles, and overhauls system components in accordance with established procedures to make adjustments and/or repairs. DUTY 3:
Performs off-equipment maintenance and bench checks to support the repair cycle. Disassembles pneudraulic system components by removing items such as: covers, poppets, springs, seals, pistons, valves and valve seats, etc. Inspect pneudraulic components for wear, tear, scratches, cracks and damages utilizing precision measuring equipment to determine serviceability and repair/replace as required. Reassembles, makes internal adjustments, tests components and rigid tubing for leakage, output, pressure, and operation.
DUTY 4:
Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures to maintain a safe and clean work area. Strictly adheres to safety procedures and regulations and promptly reports any observed or identified violations in accordance with established guidelines. Promptly halts activities where unsafe actions are observed and reports accidents, injuries and/or safety violations to the supervisor. Uses and ensures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing, to meet all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and bio-environmental standards.
DUTY 5:
Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training for all assigned personnel, e.g.,Active Duty, Reservist, Civilians, Contractors and foreign military. Complies with required instruction, guidance and/or training and provides instruction, guidance and training to others while maintaining personal qualifications. Attends and successfully completes OJT, CDC, and/or classroom training to be certified on assigned tasks as required. Reviews, verifies and documents aircraft forms, component forms/tags and Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) to reflect maintenance actions performed on and off equipment.
Documents/recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting malfunctions, initiating product quality deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.
