PURPOSE:The Facilities Director is responsible for the safe, clean, and efficient operation of all Southstone Church buildings, grounds, and physical systems in support of our mission and ministry.
ESSENTIALDUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning & Budget Oversight
- Develop and execute strategic plans and long-term goals for SSC.
- Develop and manage the annual facilities budget; controlling costs
- Maintain a component list of major assets and projected repair or replacement schedules.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure all facilities-related spending aligns with the approved budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide oversight of all church buildings, grounds, parking lots, and equipment, ensuring spaces are operational, clean, and safe.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all building systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds, maintaining a current list of needs and action items.
- Manage all safety and security systems, including security alarms, building key, and Avigilon access management.
- Ensure all facilities comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, fire safety standards, ADA requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Oversee all regulatory inspections and coordinate with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all outside contractors and vendors related to the physical site and grounds.
- Obtain bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee the fulfillment of contracted work within approved budgets.
- Oversee daily facility operations using work order management software in conjunction with church calendar software.
- Approve and coordinate event setups and breakdowns for worship services, ministry events, and special services.
- Manage the janitorial crew, ensuring consistent standards of cleanliness throughout all church facilities.
- Oversee the procurement and inventory of janitorial and building supplies, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Oversee and provide leadership to all Facilities team staff, including maintenance personnel, vendors, janitorial crew.
- Collaborate with other church departments and support staff to ensure facilities needs are met across all ministry areas.
- Strong organizational skills
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced ministry environment
- Able to learn and adopt new software and technology platforms with ease
- Experience with work order management and facilities scheduling software preferred
- Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security) preferred
- Agreement with Southstone Church's vision, values, and statement of faith
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as ministry needs require
- Strong organizational, leadership, autonomy, flexibility, and adaptability skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- High school diploma
- Additional training or certification in facilities management, building trades, or a related area is a plus
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in facilities management, building operations, or a related field preferred
- Able to lift and carry items of at least 35 pounds
- Ability to perform or oversee hands-on tasks related to building maintenance and event setup
- Regularly required to walk, stand, climb, and inspect building systems and grounds
