Definition
Under the general direction and supervision of the recreation director and/or maintenance supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining North Peninsula Recreation Service Area (NPRSA) facilities, grounds, equipment and trails by performing general labor, custodial and maintenance duties.
Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED; valid, unrestricted Alaska driver's license required; and desirable qualities include building and grounds maintenance experience and/or general laborer experience and ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Essential FunctionsPerforms general maintenance duties, including painting, carpentry and minor mechanical. Performs general custodial duties. Performs landscaping and grounds maintenance on service area grounds, playgrounds and trails. Operates various equipment such as brush-cutters, lawn mowers, tractor, utility vehicle and service area truck. Performs snow removal duties; operates snow blower, plow truck and hand tools. General maintenance functions include operating minor hand tools, drills, saws, shovels, rakes, chainsaw, etc.
Occasional use of ladder or scaffold.
Other Functions:
- Daily checks of grounds and facilities.
- Assigned to work maintenance/security during special service area events.
- Other duties as assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see, talk and hear; swim; stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch; and occasionally required to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate equipment and controls. The employee must occasionally transport up to 50 pounds and very occasionally more than 100 pounds.
