Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Under supervision, performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and other related work as required. Skills are developed through training programs and then applied to maintenance and repairs of equipment including vessel boiler, electrical, air‑conditioning refrigeration, plumbing, as well as a working knowledge of all other skill areas. This position is a bridge training and a steppingstone to a general mechanic role.

EducationRequired – High school diploma or equivalent.
Work ExperiencePreferred – Experience working in the trades or completion of a high school pre‑apprenticeship program.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs)- Basic computer skills.

- Actively participates in the state accredited Facilities Apprenticeship Program.
- Meets competencies and learning milestones.
- Performs general inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items within the hospital or clinic setting.
- Unclogs plumbing lines, replaces light bulbs, replaces ceiling tile, repairs leaking faucets, and touches up paint.
- Completes preventive maintenance inspections in accordance to scheduled checkpoints and maintains documentation appropriately.
- Reports on time to the program’s designated sites and completes all scheduled classes, labs, study periods, and any other activities required by the training partner. Activities may be virtual or in‑person.
- Completes program within the designated amount of time.
- Complies with all policies at all times while representing the company, including while off‑site.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental DemandsHeavy work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated light work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls, and/or when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
