Under the direction of the Environmental Services Supervisor, and as a member of a work team, this job performs project cleaning activities, and support activities in patient, clinical, public and administrative areas.

Required
- Experience operating Environmental Service equipment. Equipment includes:
Automatic Scrubber, Battery Burnisher, Electrical Burnisher, All Purpose Matador, and Carpet Extractor
Preferred
- Health care or hotel experience
- Lifting & moving:
Ability to lift between 35 and 100 pounds and push/pull carts weighing up to 500 pounds. Stamina:
Capacity to stand, walk, bend, and kneel continuously for an entire 8‑hour shift. Dexterity:
Capability to safely navigate busy hospital corridors and elevators. - Ability to read, write and speak / understand verbal communication in English in order to follow instructions and perform daily tasks.
- Basic knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning and cleaning equipment/supplies.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed.
- Ability to listen and take direction and complete job tasks with minimal supervision.
- Waste segregation:
Know how to distinguish between regular trash, recyclables, biohazardous waste (red bags), sharps (needles) and linen. - Exhibit effective judgment and decision making.
- Assist with cleaning projects and work as a team.
- Assume responsibility for attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Safely operate trash compactors, balers, and floor cleaning machinery.

Medium Work
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree;
or when it requires pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; or when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
