Field Service Mechatronic Apprentice – Post PressLocation:
St. Louis, MO
We are hiring a Mechanical/Electrical apprentice for the St. Louis area. You will learn to work on and fix industrial printing machines. The role requires extensive travel, flexibility, a 24‑36 month commitment, and a hunger for learning. The apprenticeship program offers training with a starting base salary of $50,000, paid travel expenses, a $61 per diem, and full employee benefits during the first year (with income growth after successful completion of qualifications during the program).
WhatYou Will Do
- Grasp concepts and theories related to mechanical and electrical processes taught in an operational environment.
- Work with and assist Field Service Personnel during the installation and maintenance of Heidelberg equipment, both in the field and in Heidelberg facilities.
- Provide exemplary customer service by understanding customers' needs, keeping their equipment productive, and explaining what is required to restore their equipment to operation.
- Be regularly present and timely, with overtime or weekend work potentially required.
- Work as an Electrical/Mechanical apprentice specializing in printing press equipment.
- Ability to travel about 80–100% of the time during the apprenticeship program.
- Commitment to a 24‑36 month apprenticeship program.
- Interest in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, and related fields; hands‑on aptitude.
- Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting knowledge (not limited to printing equipment).
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex situations to sound conclusions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels inside and outside the organization.
- High School or Equivalent (Required). Hand tools experience: 1 year (Required). Electrical experience: 1 year (Preferred).
- 21 years or older (due to travel and car policy).
- 3‑year program with potential to advance or graduate sooner.
