Job DescriptionPosition: Assistant Lead Custodian / Swing Shift
Location: Kamiakin High School
Hours: 8 Hours per Day, 260 Days per Year
The person in this position will maintain and efficiently manage the school location to optimize its usefulness and cleanliness, while handling minor repairs and addressing safety hazards not requiring a skilled tradesman. Other duties will be performed as assigned.

Salary and CompensationSalary: $23.30 - $27.58
Swing Shift additional: $.20/hr

- Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
- Minimum one year of previous and successful experience as a Building Custodian or equal experience as approved acceptable by the Kennewick School District
- Demonstrated the high degree of skill and knowledge expected of a Building custodian in the responsibilities listed under the headings "Essential Duties and Responsibilities", "General Requirements", "Physical Demands", and "Work Environment"
- Willingness to comply with district board policies and established programs
- Evidence of ability to be a self-starter
- Evidence of ability to operate computers in order to enter timecard information and work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing as well as follow directions/ instructions. Must be able to perform basic math calculations
- Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
- Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management
- Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety
- Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management
- Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement
- Evidence of ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet the District's needs and deadlines
- Physically able to do the required work, including heavy and sustained lifting of more than 35lbs.
- Show a history of dependability and punctuality, along with positive evaluations and recommendations
- Demonstrate evidence of good attendance
- Be available to perform overtime for after school and weekend activities as needed
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to refinish classroom resilient floors, carpets, gym wood floors and be physically capable of performing these tasks
- Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email
- General custodial skills; basic operational knowledge of and ability to operate custodial equipment and the heating/cooling systems
- Work cooperatively as a member of the custodial team to accomplish specific goals
