Hourly, position overview:
The Facilities Technician provides general facilities maintenance for Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho’s (PPGWNI) buildings and infrastructure including health centers, utility systems, grounds, property and equipment. The Facilities Technician must be able to support the delivery of exceptional reproductive and complementary health care services, honest education and fearless advocacy in the performance of all job functions by ensuring that the facilities and landscape of PPGWNI properties are functional and have a professional and welcoming appearance for guests, staff, and patients.

• Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of common areas and mechanical spaces. Provides general building maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, general plumbing, HVAC, general carpentry and building repairs, painting, electrical repairs, changing furnace filters, facilitating any vendors onsite and any specific work items requested from management.
• Provides routine monitoring of the exterior grounds to ensure that cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards are met. Provides general labor including picking up trash and general landscaping duties such as running and repairing sprinklers. Items may include any repairs to the exterior due to acts of vandalism, violence and/or weather elements.
• Responds to after-hours facility related emergencies and determines appropriate course of action to resolve issues. May involve working pre-approved occasional overtime. Must be able to work on site to address urgent issues and projects.
• Access to a personal vehicle with insurance and a valid, unencumbered driver’s license is required.
• 40-80% travel throughout PPGWNI’s geography of Central and Eastern Washington State and North Idaho with other travel as required to support job duties.

The Facilities Technician reports to the Facilities Manager and works collaboratively with staff across the affiliate to ensure proper building and grounds maintenance. The Facilities Technician interfaces daily with staff, volunteers, clients, contractors, vendors, and occasionally members of the Board and other affiliate visitors and guests.

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Certification demonstrating expertise in related field with knowledge of local, state and federal regulations a plus.
• Valid State driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance required to travel on affiliate business.
• Previous 5+ years experience facilities/maintenance experience that includes maintenance of buildings and primary systems preferred.
• Work experience in a medical or same day surgical center with on-site administrative offices preferred
• Previous experience with plumbing, HVAC, Electrical systems and knowledge of different types of facilities hardware (locks/doors) preferred.

• Working under minimal supervision, politely and promptly addresses needs in a friendly manner providing assistance and direction while maintaining confidentiality and in conformance to HIPAA.
• May complete routine property inspections to determine extent of needed services required as directed by Facilities Manager.
• Ensures that maintenance duties performed by vendors and contractors are met to PPGWNI standards and corrects deficiencies and/or supplements duties as appropriate depending on skill level and expertise.
