Summary

KTEC is a public charter school that is looking for strong, forward‑thinking individuals to build the foundation of the school.

Students at KTEC will earn certifications that align with competencies identified by industry. This model prepares them for post‑secondary education and for workforce readiness. Students will be empowered to develop a strong sense of character, understand how to function collectively within society, and be career‑focused.

Responsibilities

The custodian position is essential for KTEC to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and its employees. Specific responsibilities include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, auto‑scrubbing, and waxing floors; scrubbing walls and fixtures; emptying waste receptacles; replenishing supplies; and performing other related cleaning duties. Regular deep cleaning and other miscellaneous projects will also be completed over the calendar year. This position works primarily after school.

During June, July, and August the hours may be during the first shift. The Custodian reports directly to the principal.

  • Empties cleans and lines waste and recycling receptacles.
  • Sweeps, mops, and scrubs hard‑surfaced floors.
  • Vacuum rugs, carpets and occasionally clean and shampoo them.
  • Cleans and disinfects restrooms.
  • Cleans meeting rooms, classrooms, cafeterias, multi‑purpose rooms, offices, and related facilities.
  • Cleans walls, windows, sills, shelves, boards, trays, light covers, etc.
  • Washes windows, interior glass, and mirrors.
  • Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture and woodwork.
  • Unlocks and locks doors and gates, turns lights on and off.
  • Replenishes restroom supplies.
  • Restocks janitorial and cleaning supplies; stores cleaning equipment and supplies; assists in inventory of cleaning supplies by monitoring quantity and reporting to leads as required.
  • Maintains facility security during a work shift.
  • Observes and reports needed repairs, sanitary and safety hazards; reports hazards to the facilities coordinator.
  • Assists with set‑up, arrangement, and take‑down of furniture and facilities for meetings and special events.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly janitor’s room; ensures supplies are stocked.

Requirements Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a similar custodial and maintenance role.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must pass a background check.

  • Operate scrubbers, buffers, waxers, vacuums, and other equipment.

  • Safely use and apply cleaning agents, equipment, and materials.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and virtual meeting facilitation.
  • Read and write at the required level for job performance.
  • Use and care for tools.

  • Perform arithmetic calculations at the necessary level.

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to manipulate tools and equipment, reach for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Be exposed to all weather conditions, including sub‑zero temperatures, rain, snow, sleet, high temperatures, and wind during programming.
