SALARY RANGE $22.84 to $26.20 StartingWORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILSAs a function of the Waupaca County Solid Waste and Recycling Department this position is responsible for receiving and processing all solid waste received at the facility. This position works closely with the general public, contracted employees and contracted agencies to ensure the safe and productive amount of solid waste, recyclables, universal waste and household hazardous waste materials.

This position works under the direct supervision of PTF Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for receiving and processing all solid waste received at the facility.

Maintains receiving area to facilitate proper flow of material and incoming loads.

Monitors all mobile equipment and compactor needs, including daily inspections, cleaning, routine maintenance, light repairs, and necessary fuel for operation.

Responsible for pre-sort and pre-processing of recyclable materials received at the Waupaca County PTFAssist and carry out building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.

Maintain good relations with the public regarding operation of the Facility in order to insure program compliance.

PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Work weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years of experience in heavy equipment and maintenance.

Demonstrated knowledge of community and local government solid waste and recycling issues and regulations preferred.

NECESSARY

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Applicable understanding of Wisconsin Solid Waste, Recycling, and Universal Waste regulations preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.

Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.

Current valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
