Groundskeeper​/Equipment Operator - Seasonal

Canadian Base Operators' Southport team is expanding - and we're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high-quality spaces.

As a proud partner of Kelowna Aerospace Defence Programs, we support the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) with essential services. In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping airfield facility grounds safe, functional and looking great during the winter months.

This full-time seasonal term position runs through the winter months from mid-October to mid-April.

• Safely operate a range of equipment, machinery, and hand tools
• Maintain spaces across airside areas, remote sites, and buildings
• Support contractors with equipment operation as needed
• Roll and dye mark helicopter landing/training sites
• Maintain and repair fences and gates
• Assist with runway condition reporting and SNIC (snow & ice control) activities
• Perform snow and ice removal on runways, sidewalks, and parking areas
• Help keep work spaces, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized
• Work collaboratively with other teams and departments
• Complete timesheets and work orders accurately and on time

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• 1-3 years of physically active work experience (lifting, shovelling, outdoor labour, etc.)
• A strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Experience with airfield equipment (snow plough, sweeper, blower)
• Experience operating loaders, scissor lifts, or snow blowers
• Familiarity with DND policies and procedures

• Reliable, self-motivated, and resourceful
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Commitment to safety and proper equipment use
• Team player with effective communication skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt

• Flexibility to work varied start times during winter operations
• Ability to obtain:
  • Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP)
  • Airport Radio Operator Certificate
  • Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
