Summer Camp - Camp Maintenance

Introduction

Support the maintenance needs of Camp Gifford. All employees are part of the team that works for the benefit of the campers.

• High School or equivalent or better. (Required)
• Experience working with children (Preferred)
• One year of janitorial/maintenance experience (Preferred)

• Able to maintain cleanliness & safety standards for kitchen and food services
• Possess good leadership skills and ability to assist other staff
• Knowledgeable in the areas of child/personnel safety assessment, planning, problem solving, and crisis intervention
• Must be able to pass a child safety background check

• Maintain cleanliness and order in your person and living quarters
• Assist with cleanup of the total camp at the end of teaching sessions and at the conclusion of the summer
• Attend and participate in all staff meetings
• Participate in all camp programs as required
• Follow guidelines given during orientation regarding standards for program, safety, and health concerns
• Ensure daily garbage removal to include weekly or periodic dump runs
• Make recommendations for building and ground repair
• Cutting of lawns and grass and keeping all grounds looking attractive
• Help keep garbage area clean and orderly
• Keep supply of campfire wood; start and extinguish campfire on nights when campfire is needed
• Sweep, mop, disinfect, and deodorize Clean Goebel, Cedar Circle, and Peaceful Pines bathrooms daily
• Periodically check bathrooms to ensure they are kept in proper order
• Take care of Camp Gifford equipment and tools
• Assist with dining hall maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Coordinator
• Other duties as assigned

• Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
• Operate a telephone
• Lift up to 25 lbs.
