Position
Custodian – Olmstead Elementary School, Logan County School District –
Starting Date: Immediately.
Under general supervision, lead and participate in the performance of skilled custodial and routine maintenance functions to maintain a clean, safe, and secure school environment; perform other related work as needed.
Responsibilities- Cleaning and maintaining large buildings and adjacent grounds.
- Perform operational functions in preparing athletic fields and arranging and setting up athletic facilities.
- May perform stage lighting, curtain movement, and set arrangements during stage productions.
- Review and inspect the work of a custodial crew to ensure adherence to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
- Provide technical input into performance evaluations of custodial personnel.
- Maintain operational records and custodial time reports.
- Prepare clear, concise operational summaries as required.
- Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment to maintain operational inventory.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting custodial orientation and in-service training programs.
- Assist custodial personnel in resolving unusual problems and situations.
- May perform routine facility and equipment maintenance, including minor repair, part replacement, and adjustment tasks.
- Inspect heating, ventilation, and water systems to ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance methods, procedures, materials, and equipment for a variety of surfaces and activity centers.
- Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance quality control, personnel motivation techniques, and strategies.
- Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of policies, regulations, and operational guidelines for large school building maintenance.
- Ability to effectively maintain work schedules and motivate custodial personnel toward task completion.
- Perform light to moderately heavy manual activities.
- Lead custodial personnel and provide technical input into their performance.
- Assist in training and orientation of custodial personnel.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Have adequate range of motion in upper extremities.
- Work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps; walking or standing for extended periods.
- Require perception of sound, vision, depth, oral information, manual dexterity, and ability to handle various materials and objects.
- May be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions.
- Accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.
- Three years of experience in skilled custodial work, including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Education:
completion of high school (12th grade).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
