About the Role:
The Maintenance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of facility equipment and infrastructure. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems including boilers, refrigeration units, plumbing, and hydraulics. The specialist will troubleshoot and repair building and grounds equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards. By proactively addressing maintenance needs, the role supports overall operational function and safety and facility reliability.
The Maintenance Specialist collaborates with other team members to uphold building maintenance standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, including use of hand tools and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, plumbing, hydraulics, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certification or associate degree in mechanical maintenance, HVAC, or related field.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on boilers, refrigeration systems, plumbing, hydraulics, and grounds equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using mechanical aptitude and hand tools and execute timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Collaborate with facility management team and other departments to schedule maintenance activities that align with needs.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to restore equipment functionality and ensure workplace safety.
Skills:
The Maintenance Specialist utilizes hand tools daily to perform precise mechanical repairs and adjustments on various equipment. Mechanical aptitude is essential for diagnosing complex issues in boilers, refrigeration, plumbing, and hydraulic systems, ensuring efficient troubleshooting and repair. Preventive maintenance skills help in scheduling and executing routine checks that prevent costly breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan. Knowledge of building equipment allows the specialist to maintain operational continuity and support operations processes.
