The Reverse Unit Supervisor is responsible for supervising reverse unit and downhole tool services from technical assessment through job completion. This role applies advanced technical knowledge of reverse unit operations, downhole tools, well conditions, pumping systems, and workover procedures to evaluate job-specific conditions, determine appropriate corrective actions, and direct the safe and effective execution of field operations. The position requires the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment in analyzing wellsite conditions, selecting tools and equipment, communicating technical recommendations to customers and crews, and resolving operational issues in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable safety procedures.

The work schedule for this position typically includes 12-hour shifts on a rotation schedule, with daylight or night hours that may vary by customer and location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the reverse unit and downhole operation from assessment to completion, including timely delivery of the equipment and tools to the job site.
  • Analyze well conditions and job parameters to determine appropriate corrective actions, applying advanced technical knowledge and independent judgment.
  • Select appropriate tools, equipment, and operating methods based on wellsite conditions, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical direction to the reverse unit and workover crew regarding operating procedures, tool application, safety requirements, and job-specific corrective actions.
  • Evaluate technical options and communicate recommended operating plans, procedures, equipment needs, and job risks to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete work tickets based on company and customer requirements for the work performed.
  • Support business development efforts for downhole services with the sales organization, including outreach and calls to current and potential customers.
  • Follow Axis standard operating procedures and complete specialized training required by regulatory agencies and the company.
  • Perform other job-related duties, responsibilities, or tasks as assigned by the Sr. Operations Manager.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR;
    Class A or B CDL a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years of pump down or reverse unit operations experience in oilfield services, including working knowledge of workover rigs, downhole tools, wellsite operations, and corrective-service procedures.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of duplex and triplex pumps, hydraulic power swivels, reverse unit systems, and downhole fishing tools, with the ability to diagnose operational conditions, determine appropriate tool applications, and perform or direct maintenance in a safe and professional manner.
  • Completion of specialized technical training, certifications, or equivalent field-based instruction in reverse unit operations, downhole tools, pumping systems, well control, and applicable safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer equipment and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, for writing tickets and compiling data.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, particularly under pressure when priorities change or emergency situations arise.
  • Ability to access work areas using ladders, stairs, or other approved access devices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, with team lift or mechanical assistance for items up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull consistent with the physical demands of the position.
  • Exposure to working outdoors and extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand instructions and communicate direction.
