Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: Northern
The School of Music is looking for a Piano Technician to join us who will be responsible for maintaining and tuning the School's piano inventory under the supervision of the department head. Main duties include:
- Weekly maintenance of assigned classroom pianos including tuning, voicing, and action adjustments.
- Regular maintenance of practice room pianos including tuning, voicing, and action adjustments.
- Schedule tuning and maintenance of teaching studio pianos as directed by the department head.
- Maintenance of artist benches, string replacements, case repairs, action parts replacement, etc.
- Schedule action parts replacement and subsequent regulation and hammer voicing to provide the highest level of musical performance possible.
- Recording all work performed in inventory database.

- Schedule tuning and maintenance of teaching studio pianos as directed by the department head. Includes voicing and regulation.
- Regular maintenance of practice room pianos including tuning, voicing, and regulation.
- Maintenance hammer filing and voicing, action repair and regulation as needed.
- Misc, repairs such as string replacement, case repair, artist bench maintenance, etc.
- Schedule action parts replacement and subsequent regulation and hammer voicing to provide the highest level of musical performance possible.
- Record all work performed in inventory database.
- Basic knowledge of tuning, and minor action regulation necessary.
- Physical requirements:
position involves sitting or standing in various ways to effectively work on the instruments. - Lifting up to 50lbs independently and on occasion moving/transporting +100lbs with a partner or team (moving instruments around the building)

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- 1-2 years of tuning experience.
