This program is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the coop/intern experience. It is not designed for graduates. The successful applicants will be trained to operate a boom truck, welding truck, forklift and other support equipment.

**** Duties / Tasks:
** Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on needs of the operation.  These duties may include all or some of the following:
* Assist with troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Perform preventative maintenance on draglines, coal shovels and facilities.
* Read and understand blueprints with the ability to assemble and fabricate parts from them.
* Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Qualifications:

** Required* Enrolled in accredited welding or mechanical maintenance program and in good academic standing with the college or university.
* Completed a portion of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.
* Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license
* Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
* Able to work rotating shifts.

** This position requires working rotating shifts. The role involves approximately 50% indoor work and 50% outdoor work. Employees must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toe boots, safety glasses, a hard hat, face shield, and respirator. Must also successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).
