Janitor/Groundskeeper

This position is responsible for the general cleaning of the building, grounds, and building equipment at the properties maintained by Historic Tours of America. You are to ensure the image of our company is reflected in the appearance of our equipment and facilities while maintaining the company's high standards of safety and cleanliness.

• Competitive pay and paid training: $18 per hour

• General maintenance duties include gathering/emptying trash, servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms; sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming floors; cleaning windows and mirrors; dusting furniture, walls, fixtures, and office machines; sweeping outdoor walkways; trimming vegetation/grass; keeping grounds free of litter and weeds
• During rainy conditions cover retail displays and ensure rain drainage areas are free of debris
• Follow manufacturer procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
• Restock supplies and inform supervisor when supplies are low
• Report safety hazards to supervisor

• High self‑motivation and the ability to work independently and as a team over long periods of time within established rules and regulations
• Ability to determine the type of tool and equipment needed to do a job
• Attentive listening skills: understanding others, asking appropriate questions, and refraining from interrupting at inappropriate times
• Ability to handle unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a calm, courteous manner
• Ability to read, write, and speak clear English to communicate with coworkers and the general public

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred

• Must pass pre‑employment background check and substance abuse testing
