SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under supervision of the Area Manager, work independently to maintain the structural and operational integrity of the interior and exteriors of assigned Head Start centers.

What You ll Do

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Work with Center Managers to ensure their centers are safe, in good working order, up to standards, and promote the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of new projects; lead or facilitate projects as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and assess applicable situations to determine the proper course of action, time frame, and budgeting.
  • Paint and perform electrical, plumbing, equipment installation and carpentry as needed.
  • Design classroom and playgrounds referring to established codes and city officials.
  • Track and coordinate with contractors to prepare and do fire and sprinkler inspections in a timely manner; make necessary repairs or additions to comply/fix with findings.
  • Recommend special projects as funds become available and plan and implement start to finish.
  • Order equipment, materials, and services using defined financial procedures; maintain assigned credit cards and accounts.
  • Obtain estimates and purchases repair supplies as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
  • Respond to emergencies after hours as needed.
  • Document and report unsafe center or playground conditions; notify Regional Head Start Manager of repairs/replacements.
  • Consistently maintain highest safety standards.
  • Transport and deliver Head Start supplies and equipment from program storage facilities or administrative office to Head Start centers.
  • Implement preventative maintenance measures when possible and appropriate.
  • Regular travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel may be required.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance; work outside of standard business hours as needed.
  • Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality of information and a positive image of WACOG.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to carry out the administrative/ programmatic goals and objectives of WAGOG and/or department.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

Three year’s experience in general maintenance work

One year specialized experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general construction

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Three years experience performing professional electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general construction

Certification in any skilled trade

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card/ Criminal History Affidavit/Central Registry Background Check

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

  • Ability to secure and maintain a driver s license valid in the state of Arizona.

    Will be required to drive an agency vehicle.

    Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle for WACOG business are required to carry liability insurance minimums.

    For purposes of vehicle insurance, minimum 21 years of age.
  • Current Health Physical and TB Clearance WHEN incumbent is paid primarily (≥50%) out of Head Start department funds, allocations adjusted monthly
