About Us:
We manage a fleet of 85 vehicles that support our operations and services. Our team handles routine maintenance and minor repairs in-house, while larger repairs are performed by trusted partner mechanic shops. We’re seeking a skilled Automotive Technician who can maintain our fleet, manage garage operations, and contribute to broader organizational success.
Job Description:As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and basic repairs on our fleet vehicles. You’ll also assist with troubleshooting issues, coordinating with external vendors for major repairs, and ensuring our garage remains organized and professional.
Key responsibilities include:- Routine Maintenance:
Fluid checks, filter replacements, tire rotations, battery checks (oil changes are performed off-site at Valvoline) - Basic Repairs:
Brake pads, lights, belts, hoses, spark plugs, and minor electrical or mechanical fixes - Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing issues using software and tools, identifying when to elevate to external shops - Vendor Coordination:
Communicating with tire shops, Valvoline, and mechanic partners for scheduled and emergency repairs - Garage Management:
Keeping tools and workspace organized, clean, and safe - Scheduling & Planning:
Proactively managing maintenance schedules and reacting to urgent issues - Documentation:
Logging repairs, tracking vehicle history, and maintaining accurate records
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques
- Experience using diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
- We are a drug-free workplace
- Experience with basic handyman tasks in residential settings is a plus
Candidates with the following skills and experience will be highly valued:
- Proven experience with fleet management systems to track data, repairs, and maintenance (we use Fleetio)
- Familiarity with Identifix or similar diagnostic software
- Ability to use software to run reports, pull data, and schedule maintenance proactively
- Experience organizing tools and maintaining a professional garage environment
- Ability to balance proactive planning with reactive problem-solving
- Experience developing fleet retirement plans, budgeting, and assisting with vehicle purchases
- Leadership skills, including the ability to supervise employees and build a team
- Interest in creating internship programs and collaborating with local technical schools
- A proven track record of initiative, innovation, and leadership that demonstrates potential to grow into a Fleet Services Manager role
