Parks & Community Services - GKP Supervisor
Summary:
Under the direction of the Parks Supervisor, the Lead assists in scheduling the daily field activities of crews while performing operations, maintenance, and construction of parks, facilities, and public grounds.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for safety, cleanliness, and orderly appearance of parks, facilities, and public grounds.
- Oversee field crews and ensure staff safety while performing park operations, maintenance, and construction activities.
- Leads the work of the following positions:
Senior Groundsperson, Groundsperson, and Seasonal/Contingent staff. - Operates all Park and Community Services equipment and machinery. Typically, this position works in an operator capacity rather than in a supervisor capacity.
- Responsible for field crew training.
- Responsible for proper use and maintenance of all tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitor and maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and tools on the job site and ensure crews have adequate resources to perform assigned work.
- Coordinate and plan the work of assigned team.
- Maintain current knowledge of rules and regulations regarding operations, safety, maintenance, and construction of park facilities to ensure compliance by all staff.
- Resolve community member complaints including follow-up investigation and research.
- Train less experienced employees in both equipment operation and operator safety.
- Plan, implement, and maintain Operations and Maintenance Division field crew training program.
- Perform licensed pesticide applications utilizing Integrated Pest Management best practices.
- Accurately record work performed, including materials, hours, and equipment utilized in the City's asset management software.
Peripheral Duties:
- Performs functions as assigned in the City's emergency response plan in the event of an emergency.
- Act as Parks Supervisor in that person's absence.
- Monitor work performance goals and standards of field crews as established by the Department.
- Provides input to the Park Supervisor for field crew performance evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.
