Custodial Worker 1
The Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across school buildings and facilities. This role includes general cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, waste removal, and light maintenance of custodial equipment. The position may also assist with training new custodial staff and performing lead custodial duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Perform general custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, walls, and floors
Clean offices, classrooms, hallways, and common areas
Wash windows, walls, and furniture as needed
Strip, wax, scrub, and buff floors using custodial equipment or by hand
Operate custodial equipment such as floor machines, buffers, and vacuums
Pick up trash and monitor grounds for cleanliness and maintenance needs
Maintain basic records and report maintenance issues or supply needs
Perform light maintenance and care of custodial equipment
Assist in training new custodial staff when required
Perform additional duties as assigned
Must be 18 years or older
Must have at least one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience
Valid Driver’s License required
Because this position is located at a school, selected candidates must pass:
TBI/FBI background check
Fingerprinting
Criminal history check
Child abuse registry check
Employment and reference verification
Any issues found during the background check may result in disqualification.
This is a full-time onsite custodial position working in a school environment. The job involves standing, walking, lifting, cleaning, and operating custodial equipment throughout the workday.
