Position
The City of Kodiak Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting a part-time, regular Maintenance Technician.
OverviewUnder general supervision, the technician will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks on city streets, right‑of‑ways, landscapes, facilities, and buildings. Duties include inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment and supply evaluation, special projects, snow removal, emergency spill and cleanup response, hazard evaluation, corrective actions, and supervising temporary employees.
Responsibilities- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on city properties.
- Evaluate equipment and supplies to ensure effective operations.
- Execute special projects and assignments.
- Conduct snow removal and respond to emergency spills and cleanup calls.
- Evaluate hazards and determine corrective actions.
- Lead the work of temporary employees.
- Make independent, sound judgments on projects affecting public health and safety.
- Work without direct supervision while maintaining safety and efficiency.
- Reflect positively on the City and the Department in all duties.
Position is scheduled to work 29 hours per week.
