Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming environment across all KANA facilities to clinical standards. This role performs general maintenance, repairs, and groundskeeping while ensuring facilities and equipment are functioning effectively. The position supports day-to-day operations by responding to maintenance needs, completing work orders, and assisting with facility improvements across KANA sites, including remote locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Upholds KANA's Code of Ethics by conducting all work with integrity, professionalism, and respect
  • Performs general building maintenance to ensure all KANA-owned and leased facilities meet quality and safety standards
  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains floors, walls, and ceilings, including patching and painting
  • Performs basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and lighting repairs; replaces fixtures and components as needed
  • Installs shelving, office equipment, and wall fixtures; assembles and installs furniture safely and efficiently
  • Sets up meeting and event spaces and assists with moving, unloading, and organizing materials and supplies
  • Maintains clean and safe grounds by performing snow removal, applying snow melt, and clearing trash, leaves, and debris from common areas, entryways, sidewalks, and parking lots
  • Installs and maintains signage to support safe navigation across KANA properties
  • Monitors facilities to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors; reports safety or security concerns promptly
  • Interacts with staff, patients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner; provides directions or assistance as needed
  • Travels to remote village communities by small plane, as assigned, to perform maintenance and repair work at KANA-operated facilities
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting quality and safety expectations
  • Utilizes the Zendesk work order system to track, manage, and complete maintenance requests
  • Participates in on-call rotation and adjusts schedule as needed to support emergency repairs and maintenance activities
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one (1) to three (3) years of experience and/or training in building maintenance, groundskeeping, carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical systems
  • Trade certifications, vocational training, or an Associate degree preferred
Work Schedule

KANA's standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, typically consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (total of 8.5 hours on site per day).
