Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Construction Facility Management Office (CFMO), is seeking a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Facilities Repair Worker position in Madison, WI.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status. However, they lead to great work experience opportunities.
The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. Position SummaryThis position is responsible for general buildings and ground maintenance and upkeep at Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) and other Area 1 facilities which include Beloit, Janesville, Richland Center and Prairie du Chien. The position will complete inspections and accomplish minor maintenance, repair, and structural alterations on mechanical and building equipment. Complete all required preventative maintenance functions and meet all interval requirements.
Will assist with lawn mowing and snow removal operations using snow removal equipment when necessary. Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
Ability to lift to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist and climb ladders.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on Tuesday prior to NEO.
QualificationsCandidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have training and/or experience with:
Basic knowledge of building systems, mechanical repair, and maintenance principles.
General groundskeeping and landscaping methods/procedures, including the operation and repair of grounds maintenance and snow removal equipment.
