Job Summary:
Under the general direction and supervision of the Facilities and Rental Supervisor, the MOD is responsible for supervising all patrons using the Recreation Center for programs, open gym, playground rentals, etc., occurring during their shift; this includes supervising Recreation Center staff, greeting & assisting renters/patrons, checking in patrons at the desk and taking registrations as needed, assuring proper setups for programs & rentals, resolving problems, and keeping all facility programs & rentals on track.
The Manager on Duty position is a non-exempt position. Employees serving in the Manager on Duty position are employed “at-will” meaning that they can terminate their employment at any time and for any reason and likewise, the Park District can terminate their employment at any time and for any reason.
Required Knowledge or Traits:
- 1. Have a basic knowledge of Park District policies concerning customer service, facilities, programs, rentals, and behavioral policies.
- 2. Always maintain a sense of loyalty to the Park District, including promoting only park district activities, events, programs, and facility rentals.

- 16. Ability and willingness to become First Aid/CPR trained within first 6 months of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- 1. Greet patrons & renters in a friendly and welcoming manner and direct to where they need to go when needed. Introduce yourself and speak with them about their needs. Assist them with anything they might need help with.
- 2. Be familiar and aware of the day/night’s schedule for the Recreation Center.
- 3. Make sure event signage is in place and rooms are set up according to maintenance specific needs. The front desk will make up the signs on the boards.
- 4. Bring wristbands and surveys to renters if they have not been picked up at the front desk at sign in. Instruct the renter to put wristbands on all the children.
- 5. Lock and unlock rooms for programs & renters (doors must be locked in between programs & parties).
- 7. Act as the primary contact for building when no full-time staff if present.
- 8. Check on renters intermittently, seeing if they have any needs. Each renter should be checked every half hour.
- 9. Resolve any problems associated with programs/rentals/events taking place inside facility (including fitness center).
- 10. Assist the front desk with rentals by showing rooms to prospective renters without disturbing ongoing parties.
- 11. Respond to staff requests, staying in good contact with them.
