PARAPROFESSIONAL-Teaching Assistant
$18.50 per hour with Paraprofessional Educator License; $19.50 per hour for Para Educators who have earned a teaching degree or endorsement requiring student teaching from an accredited college or university
Requirements- Paraprofessional License or current Illinois Professional Educator License registered in Region 6 or Short-Term Approval for Paraprofessional.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) or higher, at least 19 years of age.
- While working on the approval, the educator must be fulfilling requirements for the full license.

A paraprofessional will assist in the classroom and in all school settings to support students. A paraprofessional will help teachers deliver teacher-developed lessons. When working with students, a paraprofessional must project empathy and positivity while maintaining learning expectations for students. A paraprofessional will assist teachers to minimize classroom disruptions. A paraprofessional must adhere to school rules and policies, and act professionally when dealing with confidential information.
EssentialDuties
- Working with students one‑on‑one or in small groups to implement teacher-generated lessons.
- Working with classroom teachers to organize materials for students' comfort or to assist teacher in setting up classroom.
- Implementing behavior management techniques and/or plans designed by the team.
- Assisting students with organizing supplies, note‑taking and assignment notebooks.
- Monitoring students on behalf of teacher for brief intervals.
- Physically assist students as specified in their medical or educational plan (e.g., using an Epi‑Pen, wheelchair, lifting student, trained as needed).
- Follow proper procedures for toileting, feeding protocol, hygiene needs, and escorting students to/from bus zone or car pick‑up (certified staff).
- Accompany students outdoors for recess, disaster drills or outdoor school activities.
- Maintain students' Chromebooks, assistive devices and submit Help Desk tickets when students require repairs.
- Familiar with computer capabilities (Zoom, Google, Seesaw, etc.).
- Access shared Google documents to communicate with educational team.
- Attend in‑service days, professional learning days, and staff meetings for paraprofessionals.
- Communicate well with colleagues and follow direction from different staff members.
- Assist in reaching out to families to encourage participation throughout the day, if applicable during remote or e‑learning day.
- Other duties as assigned.
