Carpenter Foreman

We are seeking experienced Construction Foremen to oversee residential and commercial construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This role is responsible for leading field crews, coordinating daily job site activities, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and keeping projects on schedule. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong carpentry and construction skillset who can effectively manage crews while contributing to the work when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors on active job sites
  • Coordinate daily construction activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope
  • Perform and oversee carpentry work, including framing, drywall, finish carpentry, and general construction tasks
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
  • Plan material needs and coordinate deliveries with project management
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with company and OSHA safety standards
  • Monitor quality of work and address deficiencies as they arise
  • Track project progress and communicate updates to project managers and clients
  • Train, mentor, and support crew members to maintain productivity and workmanship standards
  • Resolve job site issues and adjust schedules as needed to meet project deadlines
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of residential, commercial, or mixed construction experience
  • Previous experience leading crews as a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, Superintendent, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, construction practices, and building materials
  • Experience with wood framing, metal stud framing, drywall, and finish carpentry
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification

Work Environment

You will work in both outdoor and indoor settings on new construction and residential remodel projects. Job sites are located throughout the Chicagoland suburbs, including areas extending up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to I-80. The work involves active construction environments where you regularly use hand tools and power tools, handle framing materials, drywall, and finish components. Daily activities include moving between different phases of construction, working on ladders or scaffolding as needed, and collaborating closely with a small crew in a fast-paced, hands-on setting.

Dress appropriately for a construction environment, including workwear suitable for varying weather conditions and safety-conscious attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Grange, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
