Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

The Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance Director in maintaining the facility, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and facility equipment
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Maintain maintenance logs and documentation
- Assist with fire safety checks, generators, call light systems, and ventilation systems
- Maintain clean and safe maintenance and storage areas
- Follow infection control, safety, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines
- Assist with facility projects and other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 1 year of maintenance or related experience preferred
- Skilled Nursing Facility or healthcare experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and walking throughout shifts
Weekends required, with additional shifts potentially scheduled from Friday through Tuesday (open for discussion).

SkillsThe required skills enable the Maintenance Staff to perform daily inspections and repairs efficiently, ensuring all systems operate safely and effectively. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential for executing maintenance tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues. Strong problem-solving abilities help in diagnosing problems quickly and implementing appropriate solutions to minimize downtime. Preferred skills such as familiarity with CMMS allow for better tracking and scheduling of maintenance activities, improving overall workflow.
Additionally, knowledge of safety regulations ensures that all work is conducted in compliance with legal standards, protecting both staff and facility.
