Fabrication Manager – La Porte, TX
We are seeking a Fabrication Manager to oversee operations at our Mechanical Fabrications shop within the Brookshire pipe yard, coordinating with welders, ensuring safety, and driving efficiency.
Responsibilities- Operational oversight for our Mechanical Fabrications shop within the Brookshire pipe yard.
- Managing all weld procedures and certifications for manual and semi‑automatic SAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding procedures.
- Collaborating with Business Groups to implement strategy and increase sales in the defined area, including house accounts.
- Implementing and managing STRATUS workflow software.
- Project scheduling for all projects, including LEAN Pull Plan scheduling.
- Ensuring all associates align with corporate safety programs and that safety training is complete and up to date.
- Completing all workplace accident investigations as required by the company’s EH&S policy.
- Identifying safety issues and hazards and notifying the corporate safety officer of conditions that require corrective action.
- Establishing and maintaining long‑term relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Mentoring associates, promoting career development, boosting morale, and fostering the company culture.
- Balancing performance standards with the cultural intangibles that make the company great.
- Ensuring the locations in the designated area deliver world‑class customer service with every transaction.
- 10+ years of proven experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform multi‑pass, all‑position fillet and butt welds using SWAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
- Solid understanding of welding codes: AWS, ASME, MIL‑STD, AISC, and ABS.
- Expertise in welding power sources, wire feeders, and welding consumables.
- Knowledge of welding techniques including oxygen‑acetylene, electric arc, and TIG.
- Hands‑on experience and confirmed training on pre‑ and post‑heating, surface hardening, and weld inspections.
- Detailed knowledge of welding processes.
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams.
- Proficiency in operating computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
- Strong communication skills, developing and articulating data/process analysis and alternative solutions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Pay range: $4,124.70 – $9,075.00 per month (salary) or hourly for other roles. The role is eligible for a bonus or incentive plan. Starting wage may be higher based on local or state wage requirements.
