Under general supervision, the Streets Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates the work of field service crews engaged in the maintenance and repair of City-owned streets, buildings, and related facilities and systems. Work is performed in a standard office environment and within public rights of way. This position offers competitive benefits and a 4-day, 36-hour workweek (normal schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.;

closed Fridays).

Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Layout, assign, supervise and participate in the work of skilled and semi-skilled field services crews engaged in repair and operations activities and/or the repair and maintenance of street and drainage facilities including such things as repairing and patching sidewalks, curb and gutter removal and replacement, storm drain maintenance and the layout and maintenance of traffic control devices.
  • Maintain time, material and equipment use records. Estimate quantities and order materials and equipment.
  • Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • Check streets, side walks, curbs gutters and drainage facilities for needed maintenance and repairs.
  • Inspect the work of crews while in progress. Provide advice and assistance to provide the most efficient and effective work methods and assure the utilization of safe work practices.
  • Explain the effect of work projects to adjacent property owners and assist in resolving complaints.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for system maintenance and repair activities.
  • Assist in coordinating system maintenance activities with other city departments, divisions and sections as well as with outside agencies.
  • Respond to emergency situations, supervise, train and evaluate subordinates.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
  • Principles, practices, methods, materials and equipment used in public works and/or parks system maintenance and repair activities.
  • Types and level of maintenance and repair activities generally performed in a street maintenance and/or parks maintenance program.
